After you end your first trimester, so basically after your third month is finished as the risk of having a miscarriage has decreased enormously, you will have an exact due date and he will have noticed that for the past three months you have been able to continue all your duties without your pregnancy being a problem or in any way interfered with your job and/or position.

When you find out, but be sure to include in the conversation that you will still be the same reliable employee that they know now as long as you possibly can. If you do some sort of work that the employer could feel like you wouldn't be safe doing anymore, then it might be helpful to bring a letter from your OBGYN to tell the supervisor whether there will be any restrictions during your pregnancy. Honesty is always the best policy - you don't need the stress of trying to make sure the boss doesn't find out!

I think it depends on your relationship with the employer. If your employer likes you and the two of you have a pretty good relationships with one another, tell him/her immediatly but let them know you will continue to do a good job until maternity leave.
If your employer is not-so-nice then inform him/her when you are showing at about 5 months.

I just told mine @ 5mo. pregnant. and I was SO NERVOUS! But just be honest about your intensions. Have a timeline ready (that you've discussed w/ your parter) on maternity leave, appt times (if you're going to sched. around work), etc. Also let them know if you're happy there and you're long term goals w/ that company. If you're eager, they'll keep you. If working @ home is an option, maybe put that one out there on the table for them. Just a few ideas. You'll be fine. Tell them when YOU'RE ready to tell them, I just wouldn't wait past 5-6months.

I think fairly quickly. It's important in case you have problems. Not to mention all the prenatal appointments you will need. The sooner they find out, the more you can work with them about ensuring that your job is safe during the duration of your prenancy. (for example if it is a hard pregnancy, you can get FMLA as soon as possible to protect you)

I'd say three months - as early as possible, while knowing that you truly are pregnant. That way, if you need time off for visits to the doctor and the birth, they should be able to arrange someone to cover your job for you.

When you first start to show, even a little bit. That will give your employer ample time to prepare for your maternity leave.
