don't listen to the people saying it's two hours, that's bull... I drive to West Palm Beach from just north of miami international all the time and that doesn't take 2 hours, and west palm is much further north than fort lauderdale.
Driving down I-95 from FLL to MIA takes about 40 minutes w/o traffic, with traffic maybe 1 hour, i suggest not arriving around afternoon rush hour, but if you're going on a cruise, you wouldn't be arriving that late anyway.
What you could do is take the Tri-Rail commuter rail line from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Miami Airport, the rail line has a shuttle bus from each fort lauderdale terminal to fort lauderdale airport station that is free, the train costs n more than $5 per person one way, and less on weekends. Take that to Miami Airport station (end of the line southbound), the train takes 45 minutes and is really safe and reliable. When you reach miami airport station, take the shuttle into miami airport and from there you can make your way to the seaport using mass transit.

RE:
How far is Ft. Lauderdale airport to Miami airport? Roughly, miles and driving time.?
Thinking of flying into Ft. Lauderdale for a cruise out of Miami because flights are cheaper. Now trying to figure out if the extra time is worth it.

Miami is certainly one of the most popular holiday locations and with hotelbye you'll find out more. Miami has anything for everyone; from the fashionable nightlife of South Beach, bejeweled by the attention chocolate of the Art Deco region as much as the bustle of Calle Ocho and the highly caffeinated power of Small Havana. The Art Deco District brings right back memories of an early on time in Florida with its incredibly restored 1930s Art Deco structures and is a place properly visited just like Bayside Marketplace. That place is really a large outdoor type mall with more than 150 specialty and tourist stores, numerous restaurants and restaurants, and daily stay entertainment.

these people are crazy.
you want a real answer, listen to me.
it's about 25 miles, but can take anywhere from 30 min - 1 hour, depending on the time.
to get there quickest, AVOID driving during these times:
7:30a-10a
4p-7p
i live in miami, and my parents live in boca raton. fort lauderdale is the midpoint between each, and i make the drive about once a month.
trust me on this!

30 to 45 minutes straight down I-95, and that's if the traffic is heavy.
