When people take the time and ask an intelligent question, they really want an intelligent answer. When I first started answering these questions, I thought some of them were really silly. Once I gave a silly answer and really offended the ask-er, I felt really bad, now I try to be more sensitive.

I'm not, I always look over the issues of the economy, and how the Administration currently in charge, treats the American people to determine how I vote. Bush has failed on all counts, so case closed.

People's politics is closely tied to their identities - I thought this more true of liberals/leftists but there seem to be as many right-wingers who can't stand dissent from their beliefs on the site as well - and an attack on their political beliefs is seen as a personal attack. Add to that deteriorating nature of American politics since about 1989 and personal attack, cursing, and incoherent rage seem to pass as "political debate" these days.
