We Were Soldiers was great, i LOVED apocalypse now, that was amazing. Patton was cool at the beggining, Band Of Brothers wasnt exactly a movie but it was the best and most realistic War show of ALL time

well im a big war movie person... n i dont really have a favorite.... but some of the best ive seen have been The Lost Battalion, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, Patton, Black Hawk Down, The Big Red One, The Great Raid, The Great Escape, We Were Soldiers, and i could probably go on with this list so ill just stop there...

but i think the worst ive seen historically would have to be Pearl Harbor, they got some of the dates wrong, and americans who flew in the RAF never went to Pearl Harbor, and it seems like they just made it into a love story more then making it historically accurate....

windtalkers wasnt that bad of a movie. it just got annoying how they said they were almost out of ammo n they kept spraying everything, or how the would have the "1000 round clips" like some other war movies

First off, the great war movies were all made before 1975, when WWII and all its horrors were still real.

Saving Private Ryan is a joke of a movie, certainly a laughable war move. Full Metal Jacket isn't about war, its about anti-war.

The best war movie of all time is Otto Preminger's "In Harm's Way". Its got John Wayne playing the best role of his life. Its got Kirk Douglas. Its got Henry Fonda. Great movie from beginning to the absolute end.

For War/espionage: Where Eagles Dare with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. To listen to Burton speak for 90 minutes is a joy ... "and what a disguise". Clint gets to shoot at the camera long before his Dirty Harry personna was solidified.

Watch these two movies, and you'll see the others are at best 2nd rate.

Platton, Saving Private Ryan

The All-Time best war movie is "Saving Private Ryan". It dipicts the brotherhood, pain, fear, and (for those fortunate enough to have survived) the ever present reality of war that most "real" people experience in war. All the other war movies pale in comparison leaving this film to bask in the glorious limelight...but that's just my opinion.

If you're going for pure action, I'd say Saving Private Ryan. If you're going for historical truth, again I'd say Saving Private Ryan. The first 20 minutes alone are the most accurate depiction we have of D-Day.
