Why do some people feel that capital punishment is cruel, yet they have no problem with abortion?

I'm in favor of abortion because I would rather see a woman terminate her pregnancy than give birth to a child, abuse it out of resentment and have another severely damaged human being in society.Just check out the abuse and neglect statistics if you don't believe me.However, I also support capital punishment because I see no reason why my tax money should have to support some lowlife murderer with free room and board, free cable, a chance at a free college education, etc.

There is a huge difference between capital punishment and abortion. You may not like it, but abortion is legal and should remain legal. There are thousands of unwanted, special needs children living in state run institutions across the country, and believe me their existence is bleak, with no hope of adoption. Until we as a society can start to live responsibly IE: sterilizing drug users and repeat welfare offenders, we can only hope that some of these women will choose abortion rather than burdening an already overwhelmed social service system with yet another unwanted drug addicted baby.

They are apples and oranges. Two different issues. I am a convert on the capital punishment, maybe old age got me there. I am against it. I am for the rights of a woman to choose about abortion. I could never do it myself but I feel that I should have that right.

How can someone say abortion is wrong, then turn around and say its ok to kill an adult (capital punishment). I am prochoice, the emphasis being on CHOICE. My feelings on abortion are irrelavent, having the choice is what's important. I do believe that the christian bible states "Thou shall not kill", does that just apply to embryos? I thought that applied to everyone. Besides where is the logic of having the state kill someone who kills someone to show that killing is wrong? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

people are complex, and in their own mind, they will reject and accept different issues. I am against abortion and capital punishment, a life is a life.

Yeah.
Odd, isn't it?

The so-called right-to-lifers are the same way.
They demand that a woman (regardless of her circumstance, whether her health might be in danger or if she was raped) deliver that baby.
But once that child is born, the so-called pro life people couldn't give a damn about that baby or the mother.

And of course, those same "pro-life" people are ALL for the death penalty.

Go figure!

Because they are philosophically two very different things. It depends on your definition of when an embryo/fetus is considered a human being - at conception? when the nervous system develops? at birth?

Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her. But once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards.(each person has their own belief concerning the life or death issues) .

It is a matter of choice. You sound like a politician seeking votes.
