which type of video file format do not take large storage space?

I would have to say MPEG. MPG is the same as MPEG.

I think mpg/mpeg (the same thing) is probably the smallest file. AVI is better quality, so it will take a little more data, and wmv is probably a little better than mpg, but not supported as well.

AVI format and MP4 format.
Example: a 3GB DVD movie once converted into a AVI format or MP4 format could be compressed into 700MB remaining the quality almost the same.

Other formats the quality of video is not good once converted.

I would suggest using m4v, mp4 (MPEG4) compression. You can use the ipod codec to get a nice small video size, with good sound and video compression. Really, you can use any format you like, just make your video dimensions smaller (320x280 or so) and that will make the video take up a lot less space.
