The Little Prince has been an inspirational story for decades. It has something for everyone, children or adult, because the moral lessons we can learn through the story. Selfishness, love, caring, compassion. It is amazing how few pages and lots of drawings can change lives. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was a reknown autor of other themes, but is this story the one which put him into immortality. I hope everyone, some time in their lives, can read this wonderful book.

It is a classic among classics, one of those rare children's stories for adults -- and for those children fortunate enough to have an adult to share this story with them.
Its innocence is genuine -- and fun, too.
And, as is rarely the case, the movie musical caught the spirit of the story in sound and image (the 1974 film, NOT the 1979 animation). The music is by Lerner and Loewe (one of their few movies not based on a stage musical). Richard Kiley, famous as the Man of La Mancha, played and sang the role of the downed pilot, who is the storyteller. Steven Warner, a real Little Prince look-alike, made no more movies. But among the highlights of the movie are Bob Fosse as the snake, Gene Wilder as the fox, and Donna McKechnie as the rose. Fosse and McKechnie dancing, Richard Kiley singing, and a genuine Little Prince. You can't beat that.

I remember reading it as a child, and not really getting it. I re-read it in high school, in French, and absolutely loved it. I consider myself very lucky that I one time, I spoke French well enough to read this classic as it was originally written.
