which type of video file format do not take large storage space?

The amount of space it takes up doesn't depend on the type of file, but rather how much it was compressed, the dimensions of the video, the quality of the audio, etc. It can vary greatly. The same video saved as an AVI, for example, can be 2MB or 2GB just by changing parameters before saving it.

I think mpg/mpeg (the same thing) is probably the smallest file. AVI is better quality, so it will take a little more data, and wmv is probably a little better than mpg, but not supported as well.

I downloaded their free version and windows media player then played stuff I couldnt before and they were avi files.

MPEG is Motion Picture Expert Group and MPEG2 is the common DVD format. MPEG4 is a compressed format used by the people ripping DVD to CD.
avi is on the web a lot because of its small size. archive.org uses that and MPEG
I think mpg is mpeg just a 3 letter extension.

MPG takes the less depending on the brand of computer you have. MPG is less for Apple users because it is support by apple, AVI and WMV is less for microsoft users but more for Apple uses

I think the wmv ... but it's not that much of a good type .. mpeg is better

If it same resolution and frame quality, thn it all depends on the codec. Best compression -> more CPU (MIPS) to decode it

mpg or wmv, but it all depends on resolution, frame rate, type of encoding, data rate...
