The situation with Ted Lilly is not his first scrape. He initially challenged Shea Hillebrand to a fight, which Hillebrand declined. He was then made the scapegoat and traded to SF. This is the second time this season Gibbons has fought with or challenged his OWN players. Should he remain manager?? Your thoughts......

I could forgive the scrape with the cancerous Shea Hillenbrand (who's known for quickly wearing out his welcome), but the situation with Lilly makes me think that Gibbons should be shown the door after the season.

I don't care what Lilly said to Gibbons, either on the mound or in the dugout. Whatever it was doesn't excuse Gibbons chasing him down and starting an altercation. I get the impression - and I've had this since the Hillenbrand incident - that Gibbons fashions himself as a tough guy, and someone almost beyond reproach because of this perceived toughness.

I'm a huge Jays fan, and I didn't think Gibby was doing a bad job. However, he has now put himself ahead of the team, in my opinion, and he needs to be fired.

At some point, you have to examine the behavior of the manager. Challenging a player to a "fight" is not an appropriate way to deal with an issue.

I don't know much about the Hillenbrand situation, but I will say this:

Ted Lilly pitched for my team (the Oakland Athletics) a few years ago, and he was very well liked and was - by no means - an aggressive personality.

If I was owner of the Blue Jays, Gibbons would be allowed to finish out the season...but then he's gonzo...

Yes, by all means.

He had the team playing well, then this situation with Hillebtand and now Lily.

How can players play as a team when your manager does stuff to upset the balance?

I was seriously rooting for The Blue Jays to give NY/Boston a solid run for their money...but Gibbons has ruined that.

yes, he should. have you noticed their 7 games above .500 in a league with the yankees and the redsox? there is now no doubt in any blue jay's mind that gibbons will put his money where his mouth is, and that hes in charge. and they should listen to him. he seems kinda like an army sarge.
