I have a friend who's ex-spouse gets drunk and either calls or text messages her phone--up to 2 dozen times per day! It clogs her voicemail box and her text inbox with messages that are not only harassing, but upsetting to her due to some of the content of the messages. Without getting law enforcement involved and/or changing her phone number, she wants to find a way to block her phone from accepting nuisance calls or text messages from his phone. Is there a solution to this problem short of changing phone numbers?

No, US Cellular can't. I've called and asked and researched it on the net. Unfortunately, she might have to change her number, as I did. US Cellular doesn't charge for that.

These people don't know what they're talking about. US CELLULAR DOES NOT HAVE THAT OPTION, I don't care what other providers allow on their networks.

Have your friend dial *611 from her phone to speak to customer service, they can tell her it's not an option. I don't know why people give advice when they don't know all the facts.

I know for a fact you can block a text message... I have Verizon service and I have blocked numbers in the past. To block a call from a particular number tell her to check the handbook for her phone or go into the store where she got the phone and ask them. She might have to get them to block the number. If the caller has a number that doesn't show up they can't block it though and the only solution is to change her number.

How long did you have the new phone number without drama? How long had the number been out of order before it was assigned to you (you could have asked the phone rep that assigned it to you). Maybe that's why the previous person ditched the number too. It could be calls for the previous phone number holder. Other than that....it's not a bill collector, telemarker, family, or friends. So, after giving your husband the benefit of doubt and considering the first thing I posted, I'd jump to a mistress as second. Sorry....

I heard that with Verizon you can pay to have a certain number blocked by the system itself but not the phone.

Yes you can block certain calls, what you have to do is to call Customer service and ask for the instructions or go on line to your service provider web page and search for unwanted calls blocking. It would tell you step by step what to do.

Most phones can block a number.
Get a manual for that particular phone.
You might even find one online.
