I see comercials that says "Define yourself" ok thats positive and then again i see a show that encourage people that they want to be someone else the show "Why i can't be you" doesn't that send mixed signals. People wanting be be like someone they don't even know.

I think MTV is saying that you should define yourself as long as it is either a mainstream mentality such as wearing the same "cool" clothes are listening to the same music as everyone else or if you happen to lead an alternative lifestyle. I think MTV is using that define yourself campaign to get people not to be original but to be more accepting of those who are different such as gays, geeks, spasmos etc. Also the define yourself campaign may be used to help confused teenagers be proud of themselves and explore what they truly are.
