I think it was a bigger loss for Boston, due to the fact that they now have to worry about getting the wild card (which doesnt look good), let alone winning the division.

Loss for Boston. The 5 game sweep put the Red Sox in a lot of self-doubt, and unlike the last few years, the loser of the division isnt going to win the Wild Card, so its not like the Red Sox can fall back on a Wild Card berth. The Red Sox had an oppurtunity to take control of their division, but instead put themselves almost completely out of contention.

I think is was a bigger loss for the Yankees because for 1 they lost to the Yankees and 2 it had wildcard implications.

I would have to say both, but I kind of have to say it was a bigger loss for the BoSox because that just puts them farther away from the WhiteSox in the wildcard...but that's ok!!!

I think it was both. But the red sox just dropped from poss division leaders to barely in the wild card race

both because the yankees gained more and the sox now have to win 6.5 more games in order to catch up
