Pythagorean theorem = a^2 + b^2 = c^2

You need to solve for c.

20^2 + 15^2 = c^2

400 + 225 = c^2

c^2 = 625

c = sqrt(625)

c = 25

The hypothenus is the side of a right triangle that is opposite the right angle.
You know the length of the two arms extending from the right angle.they are 20cm and 15cm.Repeat after me" The square of the hypothenus is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides." Square 20 and square 15. Add those two numbers together. That gives you the square of the hypothenus. find the square root of that product and there is your answer. Piece of cake.

Pythagorean Theorem formula

c² = a² + b²

c² = √20² + 15²

c² = √400 + 225

c² √625

c = 25

The Lenght of the hypothenus is 25 cm

(side1)^2 + (side2)^2 = (hypotenuse)^2

[20^2] (cm^2) + [15^2] (cm^2) = hypotenuse^2

[400] (cm^2) + [225] (cm^2) = hypotenuse^2

[625] (cm^2) = hypotenuse^2

hypotenuse = sqrt { [625] (cm^2) }
=25 cm

Repeat after me.

The square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares on the other two sides.

Now go and do your homework :)
