I don't know Authors but i can give you book names. These are adult books. Very good reads

Geek Love
A Handmaid's Tale
This Much I Know is True

That's all I can think of right now, but these three are awesome. Geek Love is a little long and weird.

I recommend this to anyone I come across at the moment - it's unique, highly suspensefull and very moving:
Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go

If you like crime stories: French author Fred Vargas has written some interesting novels that are in contrast to the usual whodunnit stuff:

And Rick Moody's Ice Storm, intelligent and suspensefull:

+ Kerstin Ekman's Blackwater, very, very suspensefull and some of the best descriptions of Scandinavian nature I ever read:

YES! I just read a book that changed my perception of music! Its called The Gospel According to the Beatles by Steve Turner. It's about the Beatles' spirituality and drug use etc.. And how they became more and more spiritual throughout their careers. It is so worth buying!http://www.beliefnet.com/story/197/story_19780_1.html

Check out Oprah's book club list on her website. I have read every one of them and never been disappointed.
