I'm not old (20) and I often wonder the same thing. Every time I hear a story about a student slapping a teacher or a child robbing a convenient store, I wonder why these kids behave this way.

I think its because there is this neo-parental movement toward giving the children more freedom. For example, why do these parents care what the kid feels? If my behind did something wrong, my mom would not say to me "Well why did you do this? How do you feel about what you did?" She would hit me and then punish me. Not that I am promoting violence but kids shouldn't have options. They are crying out to be molded and disciplined and it is the parents responsibility to do so. When they are given choices, they often make the wrong ones, which is normal because how is a 10 year or 15 year suppose to know what to say or do when their parents haven't told them so.

Then of course, there are the parents who don't give a damn..They shouldn't be allowed to bare children.

It's not an act. They lack the good ol' fashioned discipline, morals, and teachings that are instilled from good parents with good parenting skills. There is so much in the world that can easily lure them,if they were never taught to use their own minds, and to think logically. Most of them don't know that just because "everyone" is doing it,doesn't make it right. It doesn't help any, that some of their parents were really young when they had them, and still lacked some essential knowledge, therefore they couldn't teach what they didn't know.Parents and grandparents are younger than ever now,and the underdeveloped minds of the youths today is the price society pays.

a person has to be taught how to be civilized.parents today are the problem with young people.some parents act as though teaching their children respect for them selves as well as others is harmful to a child's health.some parents act like a good butt whipping will destroy the child.some people will spend a fortune training a dog with behavior problems and pay their own children no mind.

Its all down to the fact of how there raised. With loving & nuturing parents every child gets brought up properly, with manners & respect.

the reason kids act the way they do now and days are because parents aren't able to control or punish their kids without the fear that child services will be called. parents are afraid to do what they need to do to control their children. as a single mother of a 3 year old boy i know it's really hard for me. I'm afraid to even spank my child in public when hes acting like a fool because your society says that that's child abuse. truthfully children need discipline and parents can't give it to them. don't get me wrong I'm not say you should beat your child but you should be able to do whats necessary to get the point across right?

well, that is an almost unanswerable question because so many factors come into play. but I think the most important in the lack of decent upbringing and the fact that most parents have always put money before upbringing. they work long hours mostly and simply are not aware of the rubbish their children get into. im so glad that will NEVER be me!

i think a lot of it is they basically do not care if they act stupid or not...they do not care what anyone else thinks either...i think a lot of them are taught manners but they choose not to use them...and they have no respect for anyone it seems to me...they want what they want and some does whatever they have to do to get what they want...
