As other people have said, you can't ring the operator or find it in the phone book for very good reason.

The easiest way to get an address from a number is to phone them and ask. If you are not willing to do that or they are not prepared to give it, then you don't deserve to have it.

The only way I feel you are justified in wanting to know where a number is based is if you've had a missed call or something like that. If this is the case, you CAN find out the AREA the call came from, but not enough to narrow down an address. (So if you are a mad stalker, your dastardly plot has been foiled).

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.

Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.
Identify an area code.
Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.

I think that to do this you can call the operator, tell them the phone number, and they will get the address.

Why don't you just ring the number and ask what the person's address is, or are you up to no good?

if you have the std code that will narrow your search
get a phone book for that area (library have them)
then look through the pages
or ring the number and ask the person on the other end of the phone

Try directory service on BT.com

You can find the number and address only if it is listed.

Some people opt out from listing.

Try www.phonenumbertracer.com
its an american site but under their F.A.Q section they claim to hold uk data as well. its not free - so check before if you decide to pay.
If its a uk business no. try typing it into Google eg. "0800 800 800"
Good luck.

There are ways, but it's a restricted activity for obvious reasons. I'd forget it if I were you.
