do you need a building permit for a 10x26 building in a rural area?

When i lived in the county we had to go to the County Building Inspector for quick answers. Where i live you could build a shed as long as the inside between the studs on the floor was not more then 120 square feet but we had to have it just under that by 1" . 12' foot by 12' foot is 120 square feet take away 1" and you couldn't have no permanent foundation ,but you could put pads or blocks of concrete in the ground and if you want you could put shed to shed end to end so far apart and so far from house,other buildings and property lines check for wells to and call before you dig.But check first the County Building Inspector. I hope this was some help! PS this was legal by code and no need for a permit but they mite want to see plands.

If you have no Municipal or County Building Code jurisdictions that control building permits, there are still State and National building codes that apply to Commercial and Dwelling building construction. Check out your State requirements on the internet and get a statement from your contractor that he will meet all of the State Building Code requiements. You might even want to call the State agency in charge and check to see if anyone has lodged any complaints against your contractor.

You're SUPPOSED to pull a permit anytime you perform work. The government love their cut. However, what they don't know won't hurt you.
