...and you had to chose one person to sit in the seat next to you, knowing that neither of you would survive, who would that one person be? Why?

Don't be a hero and try to say that you wouldn't chose anyone. The only rule of this game is that you have to pick someone.

NutstersChick, you gave essentially the same response that I was thinking. I would have chosen my wife, as I could not picture either of us living without the other. It sends a chill down my spine just thinking about it.

Thank you for the thoughtful responses! Some of you showed real brain power, though I was most impressed with those who showed genuine heart. I think that we can all learn a lot from our responses to questions like this. For some folks, the choice was motivated by hatred and others by love. In some cases, these choices were based on what the individual felt would be best for themselves, and yet others took a more selfless approach. I never expected to see such duality in the resposnse. wow! Of course, there were many people who skirted the question entirely, suggesting that they are perhaps unsure about their stand on these dualities or simply unwilling to share.

Ok, I'm going to have to put this to a vote. For the record, this was not a canned moral question. I invented it myself as sort of a psychology experiment.

I would choose the person in the plane who needed consoling the most, because it's in my nature to help others. Even if I cannot save that persons life, I can at least help them die with dignity.

I will never travell through air in my life (well, if in emergencies then OK) but the best thing to do for anyone is run to the cockpit, get a parachute from the pilot's seat. Go back to the passengers deck, wear the chute and blast open the emergency door and say
GERONIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way, Why have you asked in your quesiton, "........Crashing towards the Earth". Why?? I mean, has Mars been finally open to the public yet?? Or is there another planet with which we have an air route?? Or ARE YOU AN ALIEN FROM ANOTHER PLANET?????? If you are, are your planes different from ours. Please tell

My sister...i mean im not saying that i want her to dye with me or anything...its just that we share an unbreakable bond, and even though we fight all the time, we still understand each other in a way....any other person would probably be like hyperventilating...but if my sis was there with me and we both new that we wouldnt survive, we would make the most out of it by telling jokes and laughing....because, hey, if yr gonna die, dont sit there thinking about the bad things, lighten it up...come on, you only have a few more minutes of this world.....

Nasty little game you are playing, trying to get into other peoples minds. Isn't a little like invasion of privacy? But then... we don't have to play...But oh, well, I will...
If you could really kill off old satan, then I'd choose him. At least the rest of the world would live in peace. If not, I'd choose whoever is the new "kingpin" of the porn industry. Of course, if there wasn't a market for it, they couldn't sell it...but then, if it wasn't so readily available, a lot less people would be getting it. Kind of a circle, huh?
Yeah, one of those two...by the way officer, if satan goes missing in a few days, don't come looking for me. I didn't do it. (Just remember, you are flying this plane... LOL)

If I'm going down, I'm taking Osama Bin Laden with me. With him in such a close proximity as being in the next seat, it would give me the opportunity to kick the living $hit out of him, and let him know that I can't wait to watch him burn in hell.

if i were on a plane that came crashing towards the earth, well, i obviously wouldn't be able to choose who would be sitting next to me. unless, of course, i was allowed to choose before the plane even left the airport. but, if i were allowed to do that, i would obviously know ahead of time that the plane is going to crash, so i would of course elect to not get on the plane( who would choose to die, anyway?). so, then, of course it would have to be whomever i were traveling with; and that would depend on where i was headed. and if neither of us were going to survive, i guess it wouldn't really matter who sat next to me at all. unless of course, my choosing is because that may be the last face that i see. but what if the last face i ever wanted to look at belonged to someone who were already dead, then i'm screwed. wouldn't i want to choose someone i don't know because i wouldn't want to be responsible for the death of a loved one; however, i wouldn't want to be responsible for the death of anyone.

what kind of moral question is this? i've never heard it before, and it isn't based on any morals at all.

no...this question is too illogical to answer, i think i'll pass...

This is an awesome question, it really makes you think. If you were to choose someone that you love, you would have to imagine what it would be like to end the life of someone you love. If you picked someone you hated, then you would have to wonder if that's someone you would want to spend your last minutes alive with and if you would actually want to die with that person.

For someone I loved, I would pick my girlfriend.
I can't think of anyone that I hate, that I would want to see before I died.

Kudos on the question!

My father. He's sick and I'll have a hard time when he's gone anyway so we'd go together. Then my husband could stay with our children. He's the only person besides myself that I know will raise the children right.

I would choose my son...He is the person I love most after my mother on this earth...

If he wasn't with me I would say Jesus....

Then again I would choose my 24 yr old daughter who I don't like very much. I wouldn't feel too bad about smashing into the earth at 300 miles an hour knowing she was going to parish with the rest of us....

**Yes I know it's harsh but you have NO IDEA what a nasty person my oldest child is...**
