ok I have changed the plug wires the dizzy cap rotor arm
the truck runs and idles rough the car misses all the way through the gears and idles very high and surges at lights and stops thanks again

thx guys I do own a haynes manual, the truck did and always has been running rough, its a isuzu 2wd pickup and has had a hard life by the look of it
My worry is its a bad clynder or piston
I agree on timing but gas is a likley thing ?? Y/N

well you didnt mention changing the plugs and its dist cap and rotor, and the year make and model of the truck could help ALOT

Assuming your truck was skipping before all the changes..It could be a bad injector...or weak cylinder compression..if its not fuel injected I would lean toward low compression.. a compression test would be in order... Then again sometimes spark plugs get damaged when they are installed.. If you know which cylinder is skipping try installing one of the used plugs and see if that corrects the problem...

You need to take it to a mechanic. If you have a repair manual and can not diag or trouble shoot the problem with the manual and need to ask questions online it's time to take it to a shop.

could have a bad plug.maybe a ring is bad.Timing might be off.It could be a shitload of diffrent things,buy a manuel on the truck and read it you will probally find the problem.

sound like the coils all thats left,also make sure you have a good brand of wires,the cheap ones dont work that well.
