Not a jot! There is good and bad music in EVERY single era, yours or mine. All you need is to open up your ears and your sense of hearing more.
Really LISTEN to a piece of music. Listen out for all the sections, all the instruments playing, listen to all the vocals and lyrics too. This will strengthen your sense of musical appreciation.
See if you can connect music your are listening to now, with good memories. Musical appreciation is very visceral.
Get out more and listen to more of the music that's out there. Experiment. Tour round the music boutiques and bargain basements, you can find some real gems in those. Browse websites like Amazon or cdwow, take a gamble on an album which takes your fancy.
The charts aren't wholly representative of musical trends 'out there.' They are just the commercial end which clever svengali types and music moguls think sells and puts money into their pockets. There are hundreds of singles released each week but only 75 make it onto the charts.
Think of all the other music which is out there, waiting to entertain YOUR ears.

Wow, that is such a general statement. Thats like saying "wow, paintings sure are aweful these days!" Stop listening to mainstream/pop stuff. There is so MUCH variety in the amount of music being produced today, that it can't all be labled as crap. Maybe you're just incredibly narrowminded. Did u ever consider that?

i do no longer think of this is all undesirable, yet a number of it somewhat is rather vapid. Singers like Demi Lovato or Bastille are cool, yet when I hear "some Nights" one greater time, i will shoot my radio, I swear.

Absolute truth you have to go back to the good old days to hear anything good or really sort through the stuff they're putting out today.
