give me some fashion tips, i haven't been to japan for a few years. what's cool for guys to wear now? p.s. i'm a college student and i'll be there for fall winter and spring. are my A & F or AE clothes good enough?

Your A&F or AE clothes are definitely good enough. Just make sure you dress for the weather (warm coat for winter). I thought you might also have some fun looking at men's fashion in Japan, so I'm posting some links below. I'm going to assume you can read Japanese, and if you can't, well... going through some of these sites is a good start.

First of all, if you wear A&F, AE, and are asking people what to wear, then you will never be happy with your choices as you need positive nods from the crowds for your positive self-esteem.
Although the Japanese have some crazy fashion, which most people would never be caught dead in, it is 100% original and self put together. Perhaps you should take a suggestion from that and stop buying clothes that have been put through an over-hyped marketing machine made in China and sold at over 100x their production costs.
Black wool slacks, a nice colored oxford, Doc Martens, etc. and you are set.
And they say the Japanese look all the same?

MotorcityMadMan would never be caught dead in Japanese fashion because he's a fricking dork who only wears crap from Wal-Mart.
Hey, don't buy anything new, but buy all your clothes in Tokyo (unless you wear U.S. size XL or larger, in which case your choices will be limited). After all, Italian and French designers commute to Tokyo to find new fashion ideas on the streets. Tokyo fashion is the most happening fashion in the world.

OMG!! I am so freaking JEALOUS!!.
I was looking at some photos and it really depends on the city, like tokyo, big city=big fashion, but just wear a a&e shirt and some jeans and thats all. Type in yahoo image search Japanese teenager
