My father could "make a penny scream" he was so cheap. It's funny because my boyfriend of a year now is the most fantastic man I've known but he is also the cheapest. If you are already married, you should know by now that there's no changing them - even if they want to, the way he was raised and his natural behaviors will always win out in the end. I was angry about it at first but now, if I feel like buying him something I do it anyway even though he insists that I don't because he claims he can't get me anything in return. Maybe it would be better if you had a separate income and account that you could use to be generous to other people without upsetting him. Try to explain to him that it is part of who you are to give just as it is part of him to hold on to money. If you compromise and promise him you won't go overboard you may win him over. In my case, our finances are still separate although we live together, but at some point I'm sure I will face this issue too and I've already thought it through. I hope some of this helps, happy giving!

Sounds like your husband is a more responsible individual then you are. Cheapskate? That's a low life individual who takes a girl out on a date and she ends up with the bill. Or someone sitting in a bar where everyone takes turns buying a drink but the cheapskate disappears when it's his turn to buy. Are you mistaking him for something he isn't because he's a responsible person insuring that his family -"You"- are properly taken care of? I'd think twice before calling him a cheapskate.

Maybe if you stop being so generous to the cheapskate people, the maybe they will feel like they need to kick in.

maybe he's not so much a cheapskate as he is worried (or just thinking) about the future. maybe your "generous" nature scares him. my husband is like you and i am like your husband. if i didn't monitor our money and take care of the finances, we would be bankrupt for sure. i don't really think things will change, but try seeing things from his perspective and ask him to do the same for you.

Hi tell you a joke, hope this will cheer you up. It goes:
-Doctor! I have a serious problem, I can never remember what i just said.
-When did you first notice this problem?
-What problem?
Hope you like it. Be happy everyday.
I need to go to level 4. Help me and vote for me and I will vote for you also! Thanks! :-)
One more joke:
A guy calls his vet and says "What should I do with my cat?Vet says "What do you mean? Guy says "I had a leak in my lawnmowers gas tank and the cat drank the gas. Then the cat began to run around and around the yard, climbed a tree. then fell out of the tree stiff. Vet says "Is the cat dead? Guy replies "nope he ran out of gas.
Just be yourself and care for the people around you. When you love and care for the others, others will also show you the same love. Just don't give up!!

it is doubtful that a cheapskate ever changes....but he should not be that way with you...maybe there is some kind of understanding you two can come to...i am a giver myself..but at times i know i have mis foot myself trying to help others...

You both create a balance. Where you spend too much, he saves the extra.
If you change him into a spender...you will not be spending very long yourself.
