It depends on what you need, i.e. a portal like AOL that offers integrated email, IM, virus/spyware protection, etc. or just a connection to the Internet. Please specify

Which part of the country do you live ?-- here I have SuddenLink( used to be Cox Cable). I would"nt think about AOL==DSL==or any other provider that comes through your telephone wiring. You "may" get about 700 kb/s(down) from these guys , and this rate will vary as more users come on line using up the bandwith. You will get "up to" as they say==but propably won"t. I have a cable=not phone wires=so the two are seperate. The download speed is 4K kb/s==upload is 512 kb/s==it"s called broadband internet connection / always "on". Works very well with streaming video= V.O.I.P. calls and is so much faster to download . You don"t have to spend "half your life " waiting on a download. The speed allows you to do things you can not with the slower "other" ones.I"ve had the others==no thanks==I"m staying with broadband. Costs more( $39.95 month) plus installation fees at first so it does take a little to get started. You will like it very much.

I have had AT&T Yahoo DSL for the last year or so and would rate it higher than AOL (but I can only compare it to my parent's old AOL dial-up service).
If you are a music fan, yahoo music (aka Launchcast music) is great and that is what tips the scale for me. Also, the free anti-virus and anti-spam tools are a plus.

Yahoo has been better for me. I started out with AOL years ago. I found it was too expensive. Also I noticed it often cut me off when I was over seas.

for service is yahoo but for internet access any of them out there are better than aol and actually cheaper than them too.
and did u not read the news article yesterday where three key personnel from aol were charged with crimes of purjery and theft, for leaking out private information to the web for all their 650,000 members. makes you wonder how safe your accounting information is with aol.
