Ask them to prove their love through ultimate sacrifice. If he/ she kills himself/ herself, then they really did love you and you could tell.... case closed.

Different people express love in different ways so there is no "test" you can administer to see if they pass. You have to take their word for it and trust them. If their expression of love makes you doubt the truth of their claim then end the relationship.

You can't. That's where "trust" comes in. You have to put trust into what they say. If they lie and you trust them, you'll never know.
