If you really want to do it right, FDISK, kill the partitions and data, and start fresh with an XP install.

insert your install disk in your cd rom while running your win 98se when the install screen comes up click on the box in the right hand window if the upgrade appears click on this this will install your xp as an upgrade as long as you have a vallid key thats all you need to press continue button if no upgrade available you will have to do a full install with loss of your data or you can do an advanced install where you can boot from 98 or xp at boot up with no ldss of data if works in 98 but not xp you but to 98 and it works hope to have been of help to you tell xp to leave file system as it is this will stay in 32 bit mode and not ntfs

first off, your PC has to be able to handle XP. Don't go by the basic "system requirements" on the XP box - that's just to boot, not to actually *use* it. Second, you need to purchase a license of XP. You can get it OEM from some online retailers, keeps costs down, and is legal to my knowledge. Also, you should make sure you have all of the drivers for your hardware in XP versions ready and available.

It's not as easy as just chucking a CD in and being done.. you're replacing an entire operating system. Prior planning will make the update a *lot* smoother.

Simply purchase Windows XP upgrade (home or professional edition), put the Windows XP CD in your computer, and follow the instruction. I would back up important documents BEFORE doing the upgrade.

buy the Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade Version. Make sure your computer meets certain requirements before installing the new OS on it.

istalling window xp is very easy..
you just plug in the xp cd and follow the instructions.

but since your running 98se, i'm pretty sure your computer is very old.

make sure you look at the system before installing

you want at least 300MHz of cpu power
and 128MB of ram
And should have at least 2G of harddrive space.

if itz lower than those specs....
I wouldn't consider XP at all.

good luck!
