In my opinion, the best part-time jobs for people just starting out would be the ones where they could get real-life experience dealing with people. Preferrably, it would be jobs that are somewhat in synch with what type of career you want to end up with in the future.
Also, if you plan to continue school, look for jobs with bosses that are accommodating to your educational needs. Don't focus too much on how much money you'll make. Just make enough to keep your personal overhead covered. In the long-term, you're better off continuing school and making a huge salary in your prime working years.

Retail is good, especially if you can work in something that interests you, a clothing shop or a skate shop. Cutting grass pays but some people find it dirty sweaty hard work but I kinda like it. Busboy is low on the totem pole but it can lead you to becoming a waiter, thats better money and from tht you can learn to be a bartender, that is great money but you gotta be an adult for bartending.

When I was 15 I worked in a local computer shop, I learnt alot which has helped me in later life, if you are'nt afraid of a little hard work for money it is well worth it (especially when you get older and have to manage younger staff)

You can be a dog walker and/or sitter. My 14yr old niece does it and she generates about a grand a month. She buys all her own things and even helps her mom out.
