About 4 years ago I moved an hour away from the place I have called home my entire life. I didnt know anyone at all and I was scred to death. After a few days I started meeting my neighbors, and when the kids started school a few weeks later i started meeting more people and after a while it wasnt so bad. I moved to start over. I was in a very bad violent relationship that i needed to get out of, and to move was my only option.

About a year later I met the man who I will be marrying next March. My next move (2008) is going to be to his home state- another big change for me. I look at it as a chance to grow new friends, a new experience that i shuold be glad to have. (i would never move out of state for just a boyfriend...lol)

Afraid? No I would not be afraid. I relocated to Southern California from Chicago back in 1982. I only believed I was staying here for a 2-week vacation. I didn't know a single soul; no one. I left Chicago with $800 in pocket for vacation spending. Fell in love with the weather and didn't want to go back. I found a job that paid $850.00 a week doing Telemarketing (I was good at it!). Guess what? I'm still here. Went back to visit family/friends twice since then. DO NOT be afraid to move-on to bigger & better things. If you have an outgoing personality and aren't afraid to openly communicate with others then it will be easy to make new friends and you can make it ANYWHERE! I did. I was barely 20 yrs old when I came here. You'll get to know people, but you have to want to. Also, it helps alot if you have a great sense of humor. People who can't make me laugh are too boring for me. I hope this is good advice for you. Where are you going, by the way?

No, I've moved 42 times in my life, all work related. I guess having a place to start like a job makes the transition easier since you can get to know people who have lived in the area sooner, which in turn helps you learn the area faster and make friends faster through work

Not really....it makes for an adventure and is a new "start''....I'd give anything in the world for an opportunity like that right now, because I'm so unhappy in the situation I'm in living next to thugs and in a state where I'm like a "fish out of water".

No. Because therein ... is the history of man. Down to basics. Star Trek? The original T.V. program. Opens by subliminally establishing a fundamental truth.

" To boldly go where no man has gone before. "
