Yes. My husband had one and the doctor explained that the patient had to be awake because during the procedure he has to do things like cough or take a deep breath.

yes..it is done under local anethesia...

they will insert a camera and sheath into your femoral artery (largest artery in your body second to the aorta) through your groin area.this will allow the doctor to inject a special dye into your arteries in your heart to check for buildup (plaque) or blockages that can cause heart attacks.

these are painless and usually only take about 20-30 minutes. there will be some mild pain at the site where they inserted the camera but it heals quickly..

i've seen several of these done-they're really neat to watch...

Yes. They inject dye and take xrays. One was done in "The Exorcist".
