Why should media promote outrageous behaviour in the name of "freedom" of speech?

Regarding your question about Madonna, Madonna's public behaviour does NOT deserve the publicity the media accords it. Why can't the media focus its resources on promoting all the things that foster social, MORAL and spiritual (not necessarily specific religion) conscious society instead of weirdo artist on two pieces of wood at a regular angle to each other? Let us get our values right instead of making money and "freedom" of expression our religion. The question I have is this: Does one have to provoke outrageous contoversy to make money? Where is the right of the religious faithful? The mainstream media are co-consipirators in this mundane business of money and infamity over reason.

We, the populations, are responsible for these behaviors. If we don't watch it, they won't do it, and media won't cover it.

We all have the perfect right to just turn the TV off.

Calling these stupid behaviors as well as many other as "freedom of speech" severely cheapens the very concept that many in rest the world do not enjoy.

Yes, absolutely. When the government starts deciding what artistic expression is and is not allowable, no one's right to free speech is safe. What damage is a controversial artist doing to you? If you don't like it, don't look or listen. And controversy just leads to more publicity. Those that care about making large sums of money can certainly use that publicity for their own gain. Again, what harm is that doing you? If you don't like it, don't give them any financial support.

"Where is the right of the religious faithful?"

You have the right to worship as you see fit. You have the right to think that others are morally wrong. You have the right to express this opinion. What you do not have the right to do is impose that opinion on the rest of the population by insisting that the art you do not like be removed or banned.

What you regard as moral, someone else may regard as deepest sin. You both have the right to express that, but you do not have the right to shut each other up.

freedom of speech is just like it says you have the freedom to say what you want. the media on the other hand has these same rights and they know the bounderies but they dont always stay within them the are spending way to much time on things we already know about that is all i have to say!
