I have a natural talent for acting. I live in NYC. Do you have any information on opportunities that I can seize. (By the way, I am also not the worst looking guy either.)

Law and Order, they must need extras all the time. It's not acting acting, but you never know. You could just luck into something.

Online try the NYC film resource directory. http://www.nycresource.com/

Also check out the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting.

Is the thing to say "break a leg" if so, happy broken limbs. Good hunting.

For starters, you need to build your acting reportoire. If you have any acting experience from school plays and musicals, or even from your
community playhouse, it's a start. If your town has adult education classes, see if any are there. Since you leave in NYC, enroll in some acting school classes. That's where you should start. If your instructor says you're good, start auditioning for bit parts like extras and walk-on roles, even roles with a line of two. That's how most stars gets started. Try commercials and soaps too, like Who Wants to be the Next Soap Star on Soap Net? You need to get an agent, along with a personal assistant, personal advisor, a manager, and a stylist. But you need an agent first. Listen on the news or check your local paper for acting open casting calls for TV shows, commercials and movies, TV movies and miniserials.
You've also got to decide if you want to go into Broadway/Off-Broadway plays and musicals, TV and TV movies/miniseries, commericals, soaps, and movies. Everyone starts off small and works their way up. Good luck. And one more thing: don't take rejections seriously. Keep trying every audition you can get.

You may not be all that bad looking but by the time you make a go of it, you'll be in your 70s. That is, if you don't succumb to sodom and gomorrah in the meantime.
