Christian brides aren't arranged marriages. They laugh because they love their husbands and are not afraid of what lies ahead. Indian marriages are arranged. The brides are scared of their husbands and their new families. Indian brides are often mistreated by their inlaws.

I don't know why a Christian bride laughs, but Indian brides cry because they no longer belong to their parents, but rather to her husband. When a woman in the Indian culture gets married, she loses her old identity and is now only identified by her husband. Personally, I find this practice ridiculous, because you are blood related to your parents and not to anyone in your in-laws (unless you marry a cousin, which is a practice not observed today). I wish that at least the girl can be acknowledged as part of both families.

A Christian wedding is usually between 2 ppl who want to marry and the brides can cry, laugh or shout and it would be okay.
Indian weddings are ceremonial and a tradition must be followed. Many brides are unwilling and are sad on their wedding day so they cry. If they laugh, even if they are happy, it would be considered an insult to the gods and the family to laugh at such a special and sacred occasion.

In the one there is a dance as a partner. In the other there is a place as a servant and follower. Why would a bride be able to laugh at her wedding? She has some sense of completion and hope. Why would a bride want to cry (assuming we aren't speaking of "tears of joy" which do happen)? There is going to be pain and problems.
Sounds like one has the freedom and pleasure to hope, and the other does not. Hmm, wonder why that would be.

I've been to both weddings and have never seen a Christian bride laugh or an Indian bride cry. Where are you coming from??

Because Christian brides are choosing who they want to be with. Indian brides are forced to marry someone that they potentially do not like.

Because most Christian brides get to pick their own husband and they are happy. India does it a little differently (arrainged marriages) and if you've ever heard of the reports of how men can treat women in that country and get away with it...I'd be crying too.

quit generalizing. Not ALL christian brides laugh (I've never seen one laugh) and I'm sure not ALL Indian brides cry.
