Clean out your machine. If it is making noises and it is not the fan, then their may be a problem with the machine. I have done work on different machines and my favourite story was when a couple said their computer was making a weird noise. I took a look inside and gunk clogged up on of the internal fans. The noise was the fan struggling to work. The end result was a cm hole through their video card.

Its probably the CD drive. Sometimes, when you put a CD in the drive, it could be noisy, and this is normal. However, if you don't have a laptop in the drive, it's probably the fans inside. No harm though...at least your laptop is staying cool...unless of course the battery is affected by the recall...

Anything that moves in your notebook can result in noise.

1. CD/DVD drive
2. Chassis fan
3. Hard disk drive
4. Floppy drive (in the old days)

I reckon its either the hard-drive (mines like an earthquake but not as shaky) or a l'il hamster on a wheel. Probs the former but you never know.

It might be overheating abit, or as you said the processor. Mine is quite a noisy thing sometimes, and the desk top one. They sometimes sound like turbines starting up.

It may be the cd drive or hard drive. If it is the hard drive, I say get a new drive for it will die soon. CD drives are always loud.

get some canned air and blow it through the vents and keyboard, if a lot of dust comes out that may have been the problem.
