Cant make the 150 words, but how about "I should be able to get better information for you if we can postpone our lunch by just one hour" or "my (kid, wife, nephew, etc) is (sick, got into accident, broke leg etc) and I need to take care of it. Would you mind terribably if we posponed lunch for just one hour?"

"Listen Dave, so sorry about this last-minute drama, but would you mind if we re-scheduled for an hour later today? Somethings come up out of nowhere and I got to see to it. If that's too late for you, let's do lunch tomorrow at any time that's good for you."
If you've got a "client" then you're in a service business. And there's no reason a client should be put-off by one of his vendor's being so clearly responsible to his job duties over his lunch commitments.
Unless he or she is among those man @$$hole clients who feels thy are the most--if not only--important client you have. In which case, here's a little gray lie I've relied on in this same situation...
"...the things that's come up is actually something for one of your own people."
Of course this angle can only work if this client is big enough to even have "people" in different areas working on various projects with you and/or your firm.
And if this client isn't that big? Tell him to grab you a sandwich and bring it to your office 'cause you're busy. You'll take him out for a drink in an hour or so. Maybe.
;-)

I usually call the client and ask them if they would mind postponing the appointment. Make it direct and simple, most clients are very understanding and can do so. Make sure you apologize for the inconvenience to them as well. If they can't postpone suggest rescheduling for another day or make the original appointment work for you.

I am more concerned with the fact that you write like a complete moron. Have you attended even one day of school? Tell your client that you're a doofus, have no clue and that they should do business with someone else that is able to write and speak the English language intelligently.
Go back to school!

Ask them if it would be a problem to postpone the business lunch by one hour. Weigh their answer with your other pressing needs. If a compromise is not possible, ask to reschedule for another day (tomorrow) if possible.

I would say "I'm terribly sorry but unfortunately I had an earlier appointment this morning and it over ran. I would very much still like to meet with you today however. Can we meet an hour later by any chance?"

brevity is key...sometimes the truth is good, sometimes nothing is good. I'd probably say.
I'm terribly sorry for the conflict, but I must reschedule due to external circumstances. Can we meet at 1:00 instead?

Just simply say you have been unavoidably detained. Ask if it would be convenient for him to postpone by one hour, or if he would prefer to reschedule.

The truth, unless they are unreasonable, but once you start lying you are in mmore then one reality line. The more they diverge the more impossible it is for you to maintain the lie.
