My ice maker started making ice like crazy for two weeks then quit working all together. I still get water through the door...but no water to the ice maker. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you have the type of ice maker that has a metal rod or "arm" over the ice bin, make sure it is in the down position. It sounds like the rod may be locked in the up position which makes the ice maker think the bin is full.

Open your unit and check if there is ice in the tray. If so then your tray may need to be cleaned so the ice doesnt get stuck. If no ice then check the arm in the box it prevents the machine from making ice if the box is full so ice doesnt just pour out of the unit. Is there water? If not the solenoid may not be opening, check top see if voltage is there, if so and no water valve is bad, if no voltage that switch on the ice box may be your problem. If all this is too complicated for you call your local appliance repair man.

Maybe the motor burned out. Turn off the ice maker. Is it hot to the touch? If your refridg is newer the motor can be replaced.
