i hate when the lead singer screams but i like metal. some examples are dream theater, evanescence, and sonata arctica. anyone know any good bands or songs that i could look at?

Nevermore and Kamelot are two great bands with great singers. If you like Evanescence then go to the source where they stole all their ideas from: The Gathering. If you like Dream Theater then go to their roots, Queensryche, Rush and Led Zeppelin. But if you want newer bands, Nevermore, Kamelot and The Gathering are the way to go.

Some good newer bands are Nevermore, Lamb of God, and Opeth (very smooth voice in most of their songs)
But, for me old school is always where it is at... try Iron Maiden, Exodus, Testament, Pantera, Slayer, Corrosion of Conformity, Black Sabbath and if you like a female lead singer (but sorry, evanescence is not metal) try Arch Enemy...

Lostprophets are great. Look into Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast), 4:AM Forever, and Everybody's Screaming.

Children of Bodom, Dragonforce, Metallica, Nevermore, Lamb of God. All of these are metal, but without screaming. Check em out.
