How much does water weigh? For example.... how do you figure out how many pounds are in 12 FLUID OZ?

One gallon of water weighs 8.345404 lbs. so you can convert that to oz and figure it out.

1 gallon = 128 oz.

12 oz of water weighs...
(8.345405 / 128) * 12 = 0.7824 lbs.

There is one ounce of water in one cubic centimeter, which is the same as one fluid ounce. There are therfore 12 oz of water on 12 fl.oz. There are 16 oz in a pound, so there are 12/16 or 3/4 lb of water in 12 fl oz.

The proper description of a gallon of water is that which weighs 10 lbs AT SEA LEVEL. So the weight of water would change depending on the elevation where you are. And, therefore, a universal weight per ounce is impossible.

You take a beaker with ounces on it. Weigh it, then fill with water to 12 oz., weigh it, and subtract the weight of the beaker from the filled beaker.

If you are using the metric system, 1 ml = to 1 gram. and there are 28.3495 grams in an ounce. So 12 ounces is 340.19 grams which is equal to .75 pounds.
