I plan to tell my boss in private, but at the same time I don't want to seem like a total snitch. If my co-workers ever find out I snitched on them, it might errupt into a snitching war.

Does being a tattle-tale make you feel better? Are they offering rewards for ratting out your co-workers? Did this co-worker do something to deserve this? or are you just a little bi tch that can't seem to mind their own businsess and get enjoyment out of being a moral superior?

It's none of your buinsess. If your co-worker isn't getting the work done, it will be discovered eventually.

Tell your co-worker that you are not at all impressed with how she is wasting the company's time and resources. After all, she is paid to work, not shop. And the company should not be made to pay for the computer time wasted in accessing sites that have nothing to do with work.

At the same time, do not tell the boss. He probably knows already. Most companies have a watch program that runs in the background when every computer is turned on. You will never see it, but it records all sites visited and the duration of contact. It will even take screen pics for a visual back-up of proof. Whenever the IT staff get around to evaluating this file, and bringing it to the boss's attention, will be when this employee gets her so deserved come-uppance for this crime. And it is a crime to steal computer time, and to not give services that are already paid for.

Mind your own business. Trust me your boss won't think any better of you for telling. You'll just look like a brown-noser and nobody at your work will trust you. People will find out. If your co-worker surfs the net all day that's between him and your boss. If it is affecting you then maybe you should have a talk with him, if it's not stay out of it.

Mind your own business...how do you know he spends all day on ebay and freindster? Why don't you get to work and stop being such a FAucking busy body. And by the way no one likes a snitch not even the boss.

If you really want the boss to know, write an anonymous letter to him/her. Say something like "I believe that this person is putting bad things about our company and about their co-workers on facebook for the world to see. It might damage our image." Leave it at that. Forget about it. If the boss finds it important enough he'll look, and if he finds the things they say bad enough....then something will be done. If you don't wanna do all that, just forget about it. Karma is a b*tch ya know.

OK, let me ask you this......what is your motive for telling your boss? Is it because you are doing all the work and he does none?
If so, tell your boss...

If you guys are working together and the work gets done equally, why tell on him??

And as you stated you don't want to start a snitching war, that tells me that he may have some stuff on you.......Think about it....is it really worth it?

Don't tell the boss yet, becuz' he or she will find out sooner or later when the work isn't being done as it should. Just go on and be a good employee, then at least YOU won't get fired!! People get paid to do work, not play around all day!

I would just keep it to myself - things have a way of working themselves out and it will get found out. I would however be honest if your boss should ask you directly about it or why your co-worker was unable to complete their work.

Hang in there and "Do the Right thing, Because it's the Right thing to do"

I think it IS your business to tell, for many reasons. First of all, the work that he is not accomplishing may fall on your shoulders. Why should he get paid (probably about the same amount as you) for doing nothing while you actually work? Second, it's the right thing to do for your company. They are getting screwed by this guy, why should you protect him? Just do it anonymously if you have to.

I wouldn't tell. It's not your business to tell. Truthfully you should be on his side because he's getting over on the company. The only way this should be an issue is if you are unfairly saddled with more work. Even then I would talk to the co-worker first.
