Hope is a falasy its a beleif that has no basis. if we hope something and it does'nt come true our hopes are smashed and we feel bad. if it comes true then we are happy. should we give so much power to our faiths that allow them to govern whether we are happy or sad ? is it not better to just love life and people so we see things as they truly are. to place your faith in someone or something is distructful because if they or it fails you feel hopeless. I never feel hopeless I would like to see things change for the better but I never hope. (it hopeless) pun intended... hope is what people turn to when there is nothing else THEY THINK they can do, but there is always something they can do. they just may have not thougt of it yet...what do you think ? I am wrong to think that way,and why?

If we existed purely in the here and now, without thought to what used to be, or what might be, then we would not feel stressed or pressured. Equally we would not feel pleased or loved.

Hope is the first step in the process of improvement. Without it we would have no method for evaluating how things were, or how they could be better.

Once we hope for a better future, we can start to make it happen. Unfortunately if we never hope for something better we can never begin to make it real, and therefore must suffer things to be just as they are.

Recent studies have also shown that hopeful people live longer, than people who take things as they are and don't set themselves or others any goals to achieve.

As you say, a side effect is that if we hope for something and then fail to get it we can feel sad and upset. But it is through this that we learn and grow stronger as individuals.

Most people who have been through life changing events feel devastated at first when they think about all they used to have (Focusing on the past). They then start to place higher value what they have left (Focusing on the now), and then they start to re-build based on a hope that they can feel better (Focusing on the future).

Without hope there can be no better future, only a continuing present.

There is no wrong or right.

I still believe that hope and faith are important. But...

Even more empowering is:

Know and Trust.
