Unfortunately, most standalone DVD players do not support DivX. However, there is an easy solution. You need to convert them to MPEG-2 standard in order to play them. ConvertXtoDVD is a software program which does exactly that but it is a shareware. You can download it and convert any number of videos to play on a DVD player. However, the free version leaves a watermark in the background of the video. To remove it, you need to buy a license (approx. $35.00 USD.). The download link is:

Publisher's description of software:

"ConvertXtoDVD is a video converter software to convert and burn your videos to DVD. With ConvertXtoDVD and a few clicks you can backup your movies to DVD playable on any home DVD player.

ConvertXtoDVD supports most popular formats such as AVI to DVD; VOB, Mpeg, Mpeg4, MP4, AVI, WMV, DV and stream formats to DVD. It converts your files into a compliant DVD Video set of files and burns it on a DVD media.

Looking for free video converter software? ConvertXtoDVD is free video converter evaluation software - a small payment and you no longer have the vso watermark on the video output.

The aspect ratio can be automatically selected or forced to a specific format. The program works for NTSC and PAL video formats and creates chapters automatically. Multiple audio tracks are supported. Version 2 uses a completely rewritten interface with subtitles support and a lot of new settings.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD is neither affiliated with, nor using technology from Divx Networks!" -- written by vso-software

You can do it also with Nero or any other big CD/DVD burner software, converting your video to SVCD...but the result can be on 2 CDs or one DVD (if your player accepts burned CDs/DVDs)

But, here is my advice....get a Philips DVP5960 ($70 at circuit city), it reads almost everything and has an USB port in front where you can connect ANY USB drive (from flash drives to external hard drives in FAT format).

It's easier and one of the top DVD player actually including HDMI, upscaling to HDTV, oversampling, etc....worth the money !

Good luck
