Low oil pressure, check it at the pump with a Gage. If the pressure is OK, look to see if there is a problem with the feed such as a cam bearing that's out of position, cutting off the oil flow. I think that engine has a plug in an oil passage on the front of the block that needs to be in place to maintain oil pressure too.
Good luck.

i own a repair shop,,and have built a few stroker engines,,what is happening is there is blockage in the little hole that feeds oil to the lifter,,this will make them collapse,,the only other thing i have seen that would cause it was extremely low oil pressure,,but if that were the case you would have more than one doing it,i there are more than one collapsing on you,,it may have blockage in the oil passage,,this will cause it to spin a bearing ,,if your not real care full with it,,right now i have one built in a nova,,ans its a little too much power for it the frame is buckling on it,,when i come off the line with it,,if i were you id check my oil pressure,,you may have a bad oil pump,,that is letting the check valve kick out on it at low pressure,,if you check all of this ,,and do not find it,,i will be glad to help you try and figure it out,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s

How high was the red-line RPMs ? I have seen the lifters collapse when running the vehicle at red-line. If your are racing this engine maybe you should consider a different lifter / rocker set.

Check the pushrod length and make sure you have the right preload on the rockers. Did you soak the lifters in oil before installing them? You should do that so that there is oil already in them prior to starting the engine.

I am assuming you mean your getting a lot of lifter noise when the engine gets up to operating temperature...if that's the case sounds like your oil pressure is dropping... could be several reason for this...oil pressure restricters installed in oil galley, excessive bearing clearance ie. cam bearings, main bearings, rod bearings. has your oil pump spring pressure been altered?. Was the valve lash set properly with the right amount of preload..

collapsed? usually that means they arnt getting any oil... but i dont understand the problem ... they physically get damaged? it could be improper pushrod length or maybe the valves are floating because the springs are weak and its punishing them. if they fit too tightly in the bores it might cause a problem to but ive never seen that problem tell u the truth

Did you tighten your rocker arms too tight? That could do it.
