I co-own a pizza place and our pizza is the bomb. We just opened our second location and once word gets out and people try it the're hooked. We opened at the deadest time of year and just starting to launch our ad campaign. The new neighbor across the street from my house which is 20 minutes away and way out of our delivery area had his auto dealership try us and they are instantly hooked. They want to order every Saturday at 11:00 am. I give them 10% off like anyone who orders larger orders. I have also given him 2 free pizzas 2 weeks ago and now his dealership is hooked on those. Last Saturday he said he wanted me to bring him home a pizza for free for the hook-up. This is a $17.55 + tax 16" pizza. As co-owner, it costs me 10 bucks to the till if I want to take it home. I don't want to hurt his feelings anymore than I want him to get in the habit of the free pizza thing. In a week I won't "need" the business but I think they will still "want" it and so do I.

Got one of two choices, it looks like to me:
Either tell the guy you can't give him the free pizza
Or...if the dealership's business is large enough that you don't want to risk losing it (since he works at the dealership) go ahead and give him this one-time freebie (tell him it's a one-time "thank you"). You're only out ten bucks, so it's not a big expense.

Explain to him that you appreciate his support of your new business. That is why you sent a few free pizzas. Tell him your business is just getting off the ground, and you can't give free pizzas on a steady routine to people who support you or you would be out of business quickly. Tell him , I know as a business owner you understand this, and again I want to think you for your support and friendship. Friendship shouldn't cost ya by the way. Terry

Tell him two reasons: 1. that the surge charge you are paying with the increase in gas prices doesn't allow you to continue to give him the free pizza, and 2. that your partner is dead set against such give aways anymore and there is no way you can change your partners mind.

Just tell him that your expenses just don't permit more than one free pizza delivery per customer. He's a mooch, and is way out of line to ask for more - should be grateful he got the first one.

Perhaps honesty is the best policy here. Simply explain to your neighbor that what he sees as "free" actually costs you money as a co-owner in this business. I have a small business myself (although not in food service) and find that discounts allow me to thank those who refer me new business without killing my bottom line. Good luck!

in this kind of business you must speak out.and tell him no more will he get a free pizza,because it is costeng you.just that plain.if not then u need to give out free pizza to everyone.

STAND UP FOR URSELF..IF NOT THEN PEOPLE WILL WALK OVER YOU.

PERHAPS YOU CAN TRADE HIM A FREE PIZZA FOR A DELIVERY VAN AND THEN SEE WHAT HE SAYS .
