Biology and chemistry are good choices. Another is engineering - may sound strange, but medical schools like the discipline it takes to complete an engineering degree. You also get basic chemistry and can take biology as elective courses. Engineering gives you something to fall back on, too, should you decide that medicine is not your bag, or you don't have the funds to get the degree.
Talk to the admissions offices about your goal. They should be able to provide information about subsequent admissions to medical school. Also, talk to the medical school you would like to attend to get their advice.
Good luck.

The university I attended offered pre-med. The University had a hospital and had a medical school. I would say try to get into a university that has a med. school within. I think you will have a better chance of getting in because all the material on their entrance exams will probably be the material covered in their pre-med classes.
You should look at the top hospitals and consider their universities as a top choice schools for you.
Good luck to you.

A lot of students will major in Biology and minor in Chemistry, major in Chemistry and minor in Biology, or even have a double major in Biology and Chemistry. Some colleges and universities have programs in Health Sciences Studies. In that case, if the school has minors in biology and chemistry.
As far as evaluating the schools then you might want to consider talking with the professors in the departments and admissions counselors. They will have a better idea of how many of their students go onto med school.

Biology. That is what my friend is doing and she plans on dong in to medicine. Also, nursing can be a good track if your not quite sure if you want to go into the field. You learn ALLOT of the same stuff and if you decide that pre-meds is too much, you have a career that yo can get a job in just about ANYWHERE!

Biology or chemistry are good choices. Ask the admissions people at the schools you're looking at to show you figures on medical school admissions for their graduates.
