I am a senior this year and i will be graduating in a few months. Our town has this "law" that says that our parents and friends in the stands cant yell for us at graduation. Can they do that? Are there any laws that protect our rights to "celebrate" at graduation?

What country are you in anyways? Doesn't sound like the US. Since when does a school tell classmates and parents that they can't yell horray for their child. That is totally uncalled for. Everyone is happy graduation is a time for cheering, and yelling horray for the graduates. I would get a petition going and rebut that rule. That is the stupidest rule I have ever heard. Sorry to hear about your school being this way. Time to get a new mayor for your town.

No! They can NOT do this. They tried to do this at my graduation too. It's freedom of speech. You don't have to be quiet at a graduation "celebration" I meant you've spent 12+ years of your life in that place. The least you can do is celebrate. Make sure you tell all of your relatives & friend to yell as loud as possible & cheer & bring airhorns if necessary! LOL. My school was kind of redneck & they even brought cowbells!!! It was great! ^_^ Don't let them tell you what to do at your own graduation it's yours not theirs! Make the most of it!
For Pete's sake!! What is wrong w/ all of the people just going along w/ some stupid rule that the principal just decided was a good idea!!! No it is NOT A SCHOOL SPONSORED FUNCTION!!! IT'S A GRADUATION!!! IT'S YOUR RIGHT YOU'VE EARNED IT AFTER 12 YEARS OF THAT TORTURE!!!!!!!!

I believe they do that to maintain the program. When you are graduating and they call your name, your family/friends may be yelling so loud that it's hard for the next person's family/friends to hear their name being called. If not, the officiator would have to wait for the noise to die down and that may prolong the graduation.
It's a crazy rule, but they have their reasons.

Very sad. But if all the parents banded together and did it anyway, what are they gonna do...kick all your parents out? Always a way around stupid rules. Congratulations on graduating this year..

You're out of luck. They're trying to make it a serious solemn occasion, which is what the graduation ceremony should be. Save the yelling for the parties afterward.

First of all you do not have that "RIGHT"
And yes they can make that law. many towns have it.
Recently one graduate was arrested for disturbing the peace for taking the microphone and trying to make his own graduation speech.

Yes, but only if precedents have been cited. In other words, if others have been arrested or charged for breaking this law. Otherwise, yell your *** off!
