Like anything else, some people are just self absorbed and don't really care about the next person. Just try to ignore them and concentrate on people who really want to participate.

I think there are a number of reasons.
One, some people ask fairly inane questions ("Why is [insert celebrity name here] the hottest person alive?")
Two, some people apparently get an esteem boost by posting ridiculous answers to what could be serious questions.
Three, some people get a sense of accomplishment by advancing levels on a site with people they'll never see and probably don't care about anyway ("I don't care, but I just got two points!").
Just some thoughts...

Be'cuz some of the questions are just plain not worth my valuable time answering. I answer serious questions that I believe I can genuinly help someone else, not the silly ones. But thanks for asking.

People are just trying to find ways to say WHATEVER they feel[and get points as well]. They feel like the "points" are a reward for being/acting like a complete idiot. :)

My guess? They selfishly signed up, as I did, to get a question of their own answered.
The real question is why they stick around wasting our time.
