It might have something to do with the fact that most of the liberal voices are Baby Boomers, who've been the most lavishly coddled generation in history, and they're afraid of struggling like their kids do.
Worse yet, there are only 17 million of my generation who are expected to fund the retirement for at lest 60 of the 80 million Boomers expected to survive past the age of 65. And our wages, adjusted for inflation, are far less than what our parents made with more debt compounded to begin with.
In order to nominally fund Social Security, taxes have to be raised considerably, but many don't even make enough income to handle our own nominal needs.
Something has to be done, but Social Security alone is not the answer. They seem to think it is.

Government mismanagement has drained the system, not Democrats. Let me tell you something you self-righteous fool. My mother is 71 years old. She worked her butt off her whole life and saved what she could to supplement her tiny pension and her monthly check from SS. Because of THIS ADMINISTRATION'S idiocy, she now can't afford the simple medicines she needs to keep her healthy and still afford to live in a simple one bedroom apartment. The prescription program these fools put in place helps only those who already have the money to put out thousands of dollars for medicines themselves before the system even BEGINS to help them pay for it. Prior to that she was able to get free medications from companies due to her income level. Now they deny her because of THIS government's ridiculous new plan being in place. Republican's don't protect anyone but their own cronies and the rich. Give me a ******* break. And take your withheld link and shove it. I suspect you found that there are many more opposing it and so decided not to post it for THAT reason. Geez, I'm not even a liberal and I find your question ridiculous and insulting.

No, I really don't need a midol Einstein, just a break from right-wing meatheads who insist on blaming everything in sight on Democrats - which takes a lot of nerve these days considering the mess this administration has gotten us into. The Republicans have screwed every middle to low income senior in this country on Medicare benefits. I'm real sorry I feel passionately about my own mother having to choose between her medications and paying her bills.

It is not medicare that drained the social security system. It is the mismanagement by the government over several years that caused this. Does it not bother you that there isn't enough money in it to support you in later years? Even if it won't really affect you personally, what about your friends and family who may not have enough money when they retire?

I suppose you won't be needing your social security. How many congressmen do you think will need it? The government will try to make sure that none of us actually reaches social security age by killing us with poisons that they require in our water supply. I predict that they will eventually require bottled water to contain flouride and chlorine so that we will all die before we're 60. I'm against giving social security benefits to illegal aliens. The republicans don't care because they need the illegals for their insatiable greed.

They complain because they don't have a trust fund so when they turn 65 and have worked for the last 50 years of the life they would like to still pay the bills and i don't know.....EAT!!!

You forgot to mention we complain it is insufficient to the consumer price index unlike what Congressional members get or many other public office perks and benefits that supersede the people whom are supposed to the ones being served!

Liberals are all communists. They want those with money -- true, patriotic, American rich people, to give them a free ride. And yet most liberals don't even believe in God.
I say get rid of all welfare. Reduce federal salaries by half.
We want a one-party state, with only the Republic Party. And all commies, atheists and welfare-seekers deported or put to death.
