There are so many reasons:
1. you are coming to get the tv remote from him so that you can watch Sportscenter while he's trying to watch "Fairly Odd Parents."
2. You are approaching him with empty hands and he's so having a chocolate candy bar craving.
3. He thinks you killed Kenny.
4. His mother told him that brocolli comes from your ears. He'd rather not find out.
5. It's way too Pavlovian to even imagine.
6. You were cutting onions just moments before.
7. He so doesn't want to pull your finger.........again.
8. He's old enough and smart enough to know that real men don't wear pink.
9. You named him Marvin.
And the last reason he cries whenever you come near is.......
10. He thinks you are "Pee Wee Herman" and he soooo doesn't want to go to the movies with you!!

Does he know you? Do you spend enough time with him? How old is he? How often do you punish him?
There could be a lot of reasons... you need to explain more.

he's afraid of you for some reason. lots of small children are afraid of men with loud voices or hair on their faces. you need to spend more quiet time with this child, emphasis on QUIET.
