If it's been decided you have to pay...you need to pay! Deadbeat dads, or moms, are the worst of demons!

If it's part of your duty as a parent then it needs to be done. For instance, my step-son's mother lives 2000 miles away from us and hardly sees her son so she pays child support. Child support is apparently a way to support your child when they are not around you, and I've seen it from both sides. My dad still owes my mother over 100 grand in child support, and he's not paying anytime soon.

Well, unless the child is the product of immaculate conception, then there is probably a sperm-donor (i.e., male) involved in the birth.
And since it usually takes two to procreate, BOTH parties are 50-50 responsible for the child.
Now, I will say this: there are those females out there who LIE to their boyfriends about being on birth control, with the intent to get pregnant and trap the guy.
This is so wrong on so many levels, but mostly it is wrong for the sake of an unwanted child.
Anyway - I, for one, would like to see a law passed that requires all pregnant, unwed teen girls to name the father of the baby...and that same law would make the father pay half the cost of child care.
But, that's just me.

My brother got married to a loser girl who had 2 daughters. The loser girl whined and cried, if you really loved me and the girls you would adopt them.
So he adopted them. A year later she kicked him out and another man moved in with her.
He works at a small town factory and makes pennies a day so he also has to work at a meat market.
She left him with ALL the bills
She took all the assets
He pays $300 a month
So from what I've experienced through him, paying child support is a crock.

I think it is fair for the parent that the child or children are not living with to help pay for their up keep and their needs

If I was ever in that situation, I would want to ensure the money I was paying was being spent on the child, so would tend to take the child out and buy it clothes etc or whatever it needs, rather than giving it to the other parent and having them spend it on their new partner.

If the child resides with the other parent then child support should be paid. It should be fair too.
