i know that my bahamas marriage is legal (at least there) but i don't know what i need to do to file here in ny. i went to my town court and the woman (who wasn't very nice!) said that i don't do anything. i feel like there must be something that is required to ensure that my marriage is recognized in the state. has anyone out there gotten married on an island and what did they do when they got back home?

You are still legally married whereever you go. Just be sure that you have your Marriage Certificate to prove your valid union.

Best of luck.

Married is married, no matter where the ceremony took place.
