Nothing against Beckham, but it is a wise move on McClarens part to remove someone who has gone the way David did. When you are a captain for your country, have poor results in the World Cup, and then are no longer captain, it might be perceived as an acceptance of things as they are if you keep one around (Beckham).
Some feel that Mr. Beckham is not a complete player and to remove him from squad presents an opportunity to head into the right direction to improve. It could also have been done to benefit the player too. There may be deep psychological aspects that could be picked up by his mates and have a way of hurting the team. Let's all hope that David Beckham finds more glory even at this point in his career.

It was an up and a down side to it
Without Beckham, other players can shine, but Beckham , for me, was the heart of the English team.
We'll all miss David Beckham

McLaren just wanted to make a change and of course Beckam was the fall-guy, the press do not like him a lot. But I know he'll be recalled. He's a great ball player, a good passer, and he scores as well, and is a motivator.

i mean, don't think it was a bad decision, but if becks would have stayed, then okay. i think he's got a good motive behind the team he is forming. a lot of young, fresh, talented players who he can work with and make better for the next world cup and what not. and since becks is getting older then the rest, and since he is sort of loosing his touch, i think mcclaren made a good decision of taking him off and putting new guys in.
