If you disagree with the way that someone lives their life, why not leave them be instead of spewing hate? If we can let them have their beliefs without hate then why can't we be free of their narrow minds and bible verses and being told that "God" will send us to hell etc.?

Oh b.t.w, homosceptic (or more like mr. septic) I don't need your opinion on this question. Go back to the hole where you crawled from.

Why do "religious" & homophobic people come & answer q's in the LGBTI area? If you disagree, leave it alone!!

I don't mean to imply that this comes from all religious folk but it seems to stem from a few bible verses, a very closed mind and a huge mouth and ego.

For Christianity in particular, all I seem to hear is hate on here but yet aren't Christians supposed to "love thy neighbour"? It contradicts itself in a big way.

I'm still wishing for a day when all Christians realise that hate is frowned upon in their religion and LGBTIQ people don't suffer discrimination. Hey, everyone is allowed to dream! =)

I'm not saying that they should change their views at all. Anyone who thinks that I meant that... I'm sorry. What I mean is that there are two different categories: one on religion where you can argue the sodom story or your religious views in general and one for lgbtiq issues of discussion. Going into the lgbtiq section, bringing your hate with you and then dumping it on people that don't deserve it or ask for it (as if anyone would?!)..... I don't think that it's right.

Am I the only one who was taught that "if you can't say anything nice then say nothing at all"? Obviously not by some of the answers I've recieved but still!

To tessa w: yep, my faith in them is waning by the minute. sad but true

I got so ticked about this that I forayed into the Religion section and expressed my opinion. What can I say... I had to vent directly. The thing is, I also asked a few questions - one on gay marriage stands out. Most were supportive of civil unions, some for marriage, others not but also were not bashers. Only a couple hateful people weighed in.

As in most of life, those with the most narrow minds seem to have the biggest mouths. Maybe it's a warped yin/yang thing, ya know, innate need to advertise their limited intellectual abilities. :-)

Of course, I do believe there are SOME very religious people responding here, but I think the majority of the inflammatory answers are coming from trolls who have found new a hunting ground.

You know, the people who until recently were content to post outrageous things on the Yahoo News message boards, just to see if anyone would respond.

Now they have found a better way to target their trolling directly at the people they want to annoy. Rather than wait around for Yahoo News to post a news story that is related to gay issues, they can just come here at any time, pick a question asked by a gay person, bash the gay person directly, and know that other gay people are in the audience.

I think the only solution is to just ignore such ridiculous behavior. These people thrive on attention, so let's not give it to them.

I'm afraid that you're probably going to have to simply report the ones who go outside the rules and either ignore or expose the ignorance of the others.

I can't agree that people who disagree with you should just go away, though I certainly think that they should act like adults, which means having a mature basis for their disagreement (not just Bible verses ) and express their disagreement in a mature way (which I guess probably means that any of 'em who've actually ever appeared SHOULD just go away).

They're allowed to spew hate. It's their right as an American.

Sorry, it's true. I don't like it either but they have that freedom.

That and I see a lot of homosexuals saying things like you do. I find just as many homosexuals are closed minded as homophobs. Think about it, homosexuals usually hate homophobs. First of all, that's hippocritical when you hate them for hating.

Also, in what universe is it sane when you criticize them for their beliefs? If they are disgusted with homosexuality then they are welcome to vote against it and voice their opinion. They have that right no matter who they are.

I support human rights. HUMANS.. That's you, me, everyone. That's what I support. I don't like saying gay rights because I think everyone deserves rights, together.

That includes the homophobics though, sorry. Call me middle ground or neutral.. Whatever. I'm happy here.

Because your question appears on the main section of the site, or since Religion and LGTB are in the same section of yahoo, after you answer a religion question for example, the LGTB answers might come up on bottom.

That's why I see some religious questions after I answer things and stuff too.

You can't stop people from sharing their opinions, no matter how much YOU dissagree with it.

People ask stupid ignorant questions becuase when you click the ask button you can pick to put it in the section of the site you want, so you see peopel aksing pretty stupid stuff.

But that doesn't mean they have to be dicks, it's not hard to ignore things you don't like.

A lot of self-proclaimed christians (at least the ones who come here for the purpose of making incendiary remarks) just have to flaunt their feelings of righteousness. It's a power trip, plain and simple; they believe that "God" is all powerful, and being on "his" side therefore gives them power. It's very basic in-group, out-group psychology. People use distinctions to identify themselves and others within their in-group (ie saved, righteous, only minor sins, on a mission to save people from themselves"), so they pin the opposite on their "out-group", making them out to be horrible, wretched, sinful people. And it would be one thing if they truly loved others as their religion says and talked to people about their religion in a caring and non-judgmental way, but that's not nearly as empowering as telling someone else how to live their life, and nothing gives a person like that security like pointing the finger and playing the "whose the bigger sinner?" game. I have actually met Christians who are nice, non-judgmental, loving people, and they are not the kinds of christians who come on to y/a to tell people they're going to hell, they're not the kind of people who threaten girls at abortion clinics, and they're not the kind of people who use their religion as a justification for their actions.

of course, for the most part religious/Christians are good, loving people. the freaks that come here, and "use" religion to justify bigotry, are a bunch of ignorant, hateful freaks who have nothing better to do but pass judgment on others. they know if they did that face to face with anyone in the real world, they'd get themselves and @ss-whoopin! so, we just got to keep reporting them. they're too stupid and full of hate to know that hate is not a family nor a Christian value. preaching intolerance and hatred is what's evil and going to condemn them to hell!

I wish more people could understand that it's not their job to place judgment. I have gay, lesbian and bisexual friends. I respect them equally. I used to be a homophobic idiot, until I matured and realized that it's all IGNORANCE.

Just mess with them. That's what I do to the people who have a problem with the fact that I don't share similar religious views.

Peace.

I agree, I don't see the point in those people coming here just to spew hateful garbage, and you are right. Christ taught inclusion and love and those who profess to follow him should be inclusive and loving.

There is only one good point to the presence of these people on this forum, and that is this. Many LBGT persons have been hurt by their church, by established religion in general, and they have turned away from God. In fact, they were right to turn away from those hateful messages, but not away from God. When those people come here, it gives us a chance to present the other side, to present the image of a Loving God, who loves all his children, and who welcomes us all to be with Him.

Truth is most Fundamentalist Christians have too much pride and arrogance in their own superiority. They believe they are the arbiters of moral authority and what better way to make themselves feel superior than to attack and vilify people whom they see as less than human. Let's be honest, if they could have their way, they probably wouldn't think twice about murdering gays en mass, their own version of the final solution.
